There is a very good reason for this: I CANNOT STAND: Condescension, whining, rudeness, bickering, child-like behavior, arrgoance, and other unpleasant displays often found in these places. That said, i tend to be very respectful of people's thoughts and decisions, as long as they are laid out in a coherant and amicable way.
Onto the ranting:
On Vore-
Am I a Voraphile in the purest? Answer - no. Do I like that element of Felarya and other fantasy realms, for example, yes. I've been watching people, and reading comments here and there on most all my friends - and my own (of course) works since i joined DA. The one thing that has always stuck out to me is the level of condescension that i see from people who don't like/are uncomfy with/hate vore towards the people that like it/love it/are fascinated in some sense by it.
Best example i can come up with is people who frequently post on any of the know Felarayan commissioners or artists works about how much it wierds them out and they despise it. I'm all for people's 1st amendment rights to speak their mind - and i get it when you say it the 1st time, but once you keep saying it over and over again, it starts to come off as condescending. If you like someone's ART, then comment on that and that alone. If the subject matter doesnt interest you, what is the point of constantly declaring that to everyone who will listen? It's like saying (yes i am black, and yes i have heard this plenty of times) that you have black friends or that you grew up around alot of black people... after you say it the first time we get it... no one's gonna think you're a racist... unless you KEEP saying that everytime the issue comes up. That or you're just a very condescending human being for using me as a prop to assuage whatever guilt - be it mental or real - that you have...
Here's a premise (or whatever word it'd be...i'm a damn truck driver not an english professor)for all of you that constantly complain or bemoan this issue and it's prevalence in Felaryan art and writing... I know most all of you have seen Jaws... if you haven't, here is a spoiler: THE SHARK EATS PEOPLE... Maybe Jurassic Park, oh no wait! Alot of the dinosaurs are carnivores and shock, THEY EAT PEOPLE... Let's try Anaconda or any snake movie, shit! Wait a moment, the snakes EAT PEOPLE... Let's try something with crocodiles and alligators...oh crap that doesnt work either because guess what? you got it, they EAT PEOPLE... Squids? EAT PEOPLE... Aliens (of most kinds) EAT PEOPLE... Mutated animals of even harmless kinds, EAT PEOPLE... Other random assorted freaks and anomalies EAT PEOPLE... *Gasp* oh god David, say it isn't so! (yes that's my real name... at this point in the rant idaf
I know there's a good counter to that, about slasher movies - or movies like Species where they dont get eaten persay... people just die in other horrible and fucked up manners... Guess what... People still DIE... it's life... it HAPPENS... if you went out to Africa right now for a stroll, in the savannah... Something would - you got it - EAT YOU. Guess what guys and gals, it's the most natural way to die there is aside from old age - so GET OVER IT
Would any of you have watched Jaws, if you found out the shark was attacking people so he could play patty-cake with them?
On Felarya:
This one is especially important to me, and it's been bothering me for awhile.
People who say "There's no story, no plot, no innovation, and people who do come up with stuff get shunned, or have their ideas poopoo'd on" ... Or "that's why i left *insert first quote here*" Everytime someone posts a joke, or anything hinting to this fact - or just every chance they get... You know what? Get OVER yourself, please? You're not the smartest person to ever grace the community, you're not the only person with ideas, and you never will be. There are plenty of people who come to the community and leave it without ever making a big stink about it, or constantly having to declare to everyone else that they left and why they left... I mean, if you HAVE to keep doing that anyway, the most likely response you'll get from most people is "Who are you again?".
It's all well and good if you wanna make a journal entry about it , and coherently (as well as amicably i'd hope) say "I'm gone, peace out - and here's why:" People can totally respect that, and it can be a chance to lay down constructive criticism that maybe used one day - if not by who you want, maybe a newbie to the community will think "Hey, that's a good suggestion... let me try that" This is helpful to people, and it doesnt leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth - for you or the community at large.
"Omg WTF no one likes my super creative and innovative idea... whether it be dramatically lore changing or simple... this place sucks and people dont like creativity here." You know what - there may be some hair of truth in that, but because of how you're saying it... it makes you look small, and very simple. Don't do that..
Maybe if you people would look at this as it should be (atleast i think), then you wouldn't all be so mad bros! Try this excercise with me, and take deep breaths:
Let's pretend that Karbo is the GM of a D&D (or whatever system you like) Tabletop rpg. When you walk up and wish to join, you create a character in his game and you follow his storyline... simple? I think so. Tell me, what rpg that's in progress have any of you ever jumped in, where the Gm will let you alter anything radically that's set in stone or already part of the lore in his universe? I've never had one do that personally.
Some GM's even take their games at conclusion and write a story about all the characters - or atleast the interesting ones, and some of their activities throught out the game - some of it cannon some of it wont be when it's all said and done.
So here's a news flash: Someone else's idea is NOT a blank canvas for you to come in and do with as you please! if they dont want - or even the community as a whole doesn't want your idea, then GET OVER IT. Every person that submits a patent doesnt get rich for their invention, just like everything everyone of us comes up with isn't going to make it to canon... Thats lfe and thats how it goes. If you want to leave, be respectful - and you might find that the people who liked your ideas before - as well as maybe some new people - will continue to check your stuff out, and you may just end up starting your own community.
As far as how/what people write about and draw lacking in everyway.. Only a narcissistic jerk would say that with a clean conscience... It's BECAUSE of the writing that i saw when i first came to this community, that i decided to stay and write. People inspired me, some frustrated me, made me sad, made me think, or made me laugh - there are many that still do to this day. That's where i came up with alot of my ideas, and some are canon mainstream, while others arent. Guess what, I didnt join the community so i could see my name plastered all over it - i joined so i can share ideas and other cool things with like minded people. There are several people whom i respect that have left the community, and to this day i still think what they do is cool, original - and i may seek to join one day... but they were respectful and very concise with why they left. Reasons i agree with... Hell i agree with anyone's reason for leaving simply on the basis that if you're not happy, then you should do what you think is best for you.
I'm sure i've left something out (because i dont do this often) But if you have any thoughts or disagreements, then feel free to speak. All i ask is that you be respectful and refrain from name calling. That's a sure fire way to prove that you're of small mind and truly cant back up an argument.
If you feel in anyway i might be singling you or anyone else out, then you should probably take a long look in the mirror - because i'm not... yet you have a reason to be offended...hmmm
Ok, going back to shikai now, peace
PS-i dont wanna hear it about spelling and grammar... i dont tend to proofread rants, nor do i think a dumping of feelings should have to be

You nailed it by the way
You´re just right, I (and all the other´s who don´t understand/like vore) don´t have any kind of right to judge about people who do!
It's akin to watching jaws for the suspense and thrills - with the shark playing the Ms. Pacman of the seas as a byproduct or necessary device to generate the other reasons you sat to watch the movies.
That sum it up?
